Reflect on these things Before Graduation
Graduation season is around the corner!
It can be a time filled with excitement or anxiety, depending on how much you have planned your future
steps. Here are a few things to consider before you turn your tassel.
Get the Most out of your Student Status
Many students overlook the benefits that come with being a student. If there is something you want to
buy with your student discount, buy it. Use the library’s subscriptions to read and learn information you
would normally have to pay for on your own. Enjoy the state-of-the-art gym. USE ALL OF YOUR FLEX
POINTS. Make the most of the tuition you have been paying.
Establish Connections
It’s easy to take for granted the people around you, when you see them everyday, but soon that will not
be the case. If there’s a teacher that you want to write you a letter of recommendation, make that
known before you are forgotten with the semester. Classmates and acquaintances that you may want
to collaborate with in the future, let them know. Make sure you have either employment or further
schooling lined up, so you aren’t wasting time post-graduation.
Embrace the Change and be Thankful
It’s easy to get caught up in the emotion when ending this chapter of life. Whether you’re thinking “I
can’t wait to get out of this place” or “I never want to leave”; I would suggest you not give too much
influence to either one of those voices. College had its highlights, yes. There were moments of
difficulty, of course, but it all will soon be a part of the past and you need to accept that, so you can fully
commit to yourself to whatever lies ahead. Thank all of the ones who helped you get to where you are
and reflect on your hard work with pride, but after you step across that stage on graduation day … you
start a new journey.
